Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Aggarwal is one of India's leading Bariatric, GI, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons with more than 30 years of surgical experience. An alumnus of AIIMS New Delhi, he completed MBBS, MS and Senior Residency from AIIMS. He further trained as a Research Fellow at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, USA and as a Commonwealth Fellow in the UK, where he received specialized training in Bariatric Surgery. He served as a faculty member at AIIMS since 1999 and headed Surgery Unit II until June 2024. Widely regarded as a pioneer of Bariatric Surgery in India's public healthcare sector, he has performed over 1300 bariatric surgeries, 400 renal transplants and more than 10,000 laparoscopic procedures. He is also an accomplished researcher with over 140 publications and multiple book chapters, while actively contributing to education, policy-making and surgical innovation.
